NSS posting not for sale – Kpessa-Whyte

The management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has expressed worry over reports that certain individuals are collecting varied amounts of money from prospective national service personnel with the promise of getting them posted to their preferred places for the 2015/2016 national service year.

A statement issued in Accra on Thursday and signed by the Acting Executive Director, Dr. Michael Kpessa-Whyte stressed that prospective national service personnel do not have to pay money for posting to specific user agencies or regions.

According to the statement, the primary placement orientation of the Scheme is to deploy national service personnel to serve the State in areas, agencies and places with the view to enabling them contribute to the government’s transformational agenda.

The statement, therefore, warned the perpetrators, who are taking undue advantage of unsuspecting prospective national service personnel, to desist from such acts.

The statement further urges all prospective national service personnel and the general public not only to be vigilant, but also to report to Management of the Scheme or to the nearest police station, anybody who may approach them with such demands.
