Social Electricity Minister Fifty villages to get electricity in Binduri constituency

Atuba (U/E) July 9, GNA – The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. Mark Woyongo, has cut the sod for the extension of the national electricity grid to 50 villages in the Binduri constituency in the Upper East Region. He said the government was committed to ensuring that electricity got to most communities in the country. Mr. Woyongo said the government was initiating programmes such as youth in agriculture to provide them with jobs and discourage them from travelling to southern Ghana to search for jobs with their attendant problems. He said a scheme would be introduced to sponsor youth and youth groups who would want go into agriculture. The Chief of Kaadi, Naba Anobilla Azimbey, commended government for the development projects in the area and said they would make good use of the electricity given to them. The overlord of the Binduri Traditional Area, Naba Akolbila Agapwine Robert, appealed to the government to give the area a district status and provide it with a Senior High School to feed Junior High Schools in the area.

Naba Akolbila said now that the area is connected to the national grid, commercial activities would be encouraged and appealed for the construction of feeder roads.
