Social Schools Presentation Assembly presents chairs, tables to schools

Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 18, GNA – The Nkoranza South District Assembly is spending about GHC 900,000 to provide 8,500 tables and chairs to basic schools in the district. Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the District Chief Executive, said this at the presentation of free school uniforms, tables and chairs to the District Directorate of Education for distribution to schools. He stressed the need for other stakeholders in education to play their respective roles effectively to complement government efforts at enhancing national development.

Mr Agyekum expressed concern about the poor performance of three junior high schools in the district that scored zero percent in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and appealed to teachers to redouble efforts for improved performance.

Madam Philippa Banson, Nkoranza South District Director of Education, commended the government for initiating a number of programmes and policies to promote education at all levels in the country. She advised parents to join hands with teachers in instilling discipline in schools so the youth would lead morally-upright lives. Madam Banson urged teachers to work extra hard to improve the standard of education in the district.
