NPP’s communication team raise red flags over appointments

The Communication Team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern region is angry over attempts by some faceless human persons to block members from being appointed into various positions.

According to them, there is a deliberate attempt by some elements within government to sideline the Northern Regional Communication team from getting appointments

The group has threatened to boycott all party related activities including defending the party in the media if after a week the president fails to show appreciation for the work they have done in the past by appointing members of the team to various positions,

“It is obvious that, there is a deliberate attempt by some elements within the government to sideline members of the northern regional communications team for appointments in the government.

There is no doubt that the northern regional communication team of the party worked tirelessly for the victory of the party in the last elections. Ever since the party went into opposition in the 2008 general elections, we have not relented in our efforts to ensure that we get the party back to power. Being a communicator in the northern region is not the same as a communicator in other regions, considering the volatile nature of the region. There were days communicators had to sleep in radio stations for fear of their lives”, they said in a release signed by Haruna Wunnam

Cataloguing the contributions of members, it indicated that a number of them risked their lives for the party while in opposition but have deliberately been ignored now the party is in power.

“King Faisal was attacked in a radio station leading to the burning down of the said station. Others were attacked in their homes and some even chased out. Again, after the Dagbon issue, virtually everyone deserted the party except for these communicators who put their lives on the line to fight for the party.

Faisal Gbanjili for instance was nearly lynched by some youth group within the NDC at radio Justice, Frederick Tahiru was almost maimed by some other youth group of the NDC and finally Yussif Danjimah was also a key target for speaking for the NPP. Today as the party is in power, what has become of the faith of these communicators? What can the party do for the likes of A. latif , Mohammed Sherif , Adam A. Gafaru, Mohammed Poloo, Frederick Tahiru, Yussif Danjimah,Abdul Kudus who is the regional communications director and Sulley Salifu who is also the regional secretary and a member of the regional communications team for their relentless efforts in bringing back the party to power”
