NPP’s campaign committees can win power – Lecturer

Dr. Owusu Mensah, a political science lecturer with the University of Ghana, says members of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) campaign sector committees recently inaugurated by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo can execute an effective campaign for the largest opposition party .

Nana Addo on Tuesday inaugurated campaign sector committees of the party and tasked them with the formulation of the policies and programmes the party will be presenting in the campaign to the Ghanaian electorate ahead of the conduct of this year’s polls.

The 18 sector committees, comprising a total of some 150 members, are also to articulate the party’s messages in their respective areas, defend the party’s messages and contribute to the making of the party’s manifesto.

Speaking on Atinka midday News Wednesday, Dr. Owusu Mensah noted that the caliber of people on the list is a clear indication that the party is in for business , adding many of the members are competent and qualified .

Dr. Owusu observed that the team is a winning team for the NPP, because some of committee members have vast experiences having served in the previous NPP government as ministers and MPs. He added that the members of the committees cut across the various regions in Ghana, giving the party a national appeal.

He said what makes this committee a unique one is the blend of old and new people who are ready to fight together for the party to win the impending election.

“If only NPP can draft a concrete manifesto and market itself well to the people with these members the party stands a chance of winning the upcoming election,” Dr. Owusu said.

He said the team is a winning one with the likes of Dr. Bawumia , Alan Kyeremanten Joe Ghartey among others .
