Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – The Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday congratulated Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama for his re-nomination as the running mate of President John Agyekum Kufuor for the December presidential election.
“The Youth Wing wishes to state unreservedly that the blend of Alhaji Aliu Mahama and President Kufuor is not only a strategic team but a victory team, which will be very difficult to defeat, if not impossible, in the 2004 elections,” it said in a statement signed by Mr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, National Youth Organiser.
President Kufuor confirmed Alhaji Aliu as his running mate last Saturday in Kumasi.
The statement said the Youth Wing was impressed about the good stewardship of their leaders, describing it as a clear manifestation that they deserved a second term.
The Youth Wing appealed to members of the party and non-members “to work tirelessly in ensuring a landslide victory for the NPP in the 2004 election to continue with the wheel of development and progress geared towards poverty reduction”.
