NPP would industralise the economy – Nana Akufo-Addo

Sekondi, Nov. 28, GNA – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Thursday said if retained in power, the NPP would focus on the industralisation of the country’s economy for the next 10 years. He said industralisation would be the next phase of the NPP economic agenda for the country and he would be the President to push this forward.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who was speaking at NPP Western Regional rally at Sekondi, said the petro-chemical industry in the region would be well established and Sekondi-Takoradi would become the oil city and terminal of the country.

He said revenue from the country’s oil industry would be judiciously used to promote industralisation and education, particularly provision of free education at the senior secondary school level. Nana Akufo-Addo said the oil find was the result of the business-like attitude injected into oil exploration by President John Agyekum Kufuor, and he (Nana Akufo-Addo) would manage the oul industry in the same business-like manner.

He said he was not in politics to amass wealth but to promote human rights and development as well as respect for the rule of law adding, “The dark days of yesterday when people were oppressed must not recur”. Nana Akufo-Addo said the destiny of the country must not be put in the hands of a political party and ministers who would mismanage it, adding “We want ministers who would move the country forward’. Other speakers at the rally were Dr Mohamadu Bawumia, the running mate to the NPP presidential candidate, and Dr Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Mr. Jake Obetesbie-Lamptey and Mr. Alan Kyeremanten, all leading members of the party.
