NPP will win 2004 hands down, … -Botwe

INSPITE OF PRIMARIES ?PALAVA?

Mr Dan Botwe, the General Secretary of NPP, has declared that notwithstanding a few protestations from some aspiring parliamentary candidates ?the NPP will win the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary elections hands down. The victory will be so decisive that one or two of the political parties will fold up?.

Mr Botwe made these confident remarks in an interview in reaction to a series of demonstrations by some NPP supporters, in which they alleged that some leading members of the party had been interfering in the impending primaries in some constituencies.

Mr Botwe was firm, ?the aim of vetting is to weed out certain undesirables who are likely to embarrass the party. For example, some of the candidates have NPP membership cards from as far back as 1992, 1993, and 1994. These cards were supposedly signed by me in my capacity as the General Secretary of the party. The snag is that I only became the General Secretary in 1998? What do we do to such dishonest people? We will definitely not pass such persons at our vetting sessions?.
