NPP will not impose parliamentary candidate

Mpraeso, July 15, GNA – The New Patriot Party (NPP) has assured supporters that the Party would not impose parliamentary candidates on the people but it would abide by its Constitution in electing credible and marketable persons.

Supporters and polling station chairmen, who formed the Electoral College in the constituencies, have, therefore, been asked to exercise patience, so that the NPP National Vetting Committee could come out with its reports for the determination of qualified contestants for parliamentary elections.

The Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Mr Raymond Osafo Gyan made this known to journalists at Mpreaso, in a reaction to complaints by supporters and polling station chairmen about delays in conducting primaries in some constituencies in the Eastern Region.

He said though primaries should have been held to elect candidates in all the constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament last month, “circumstances beyond our control” could not make it possible. Mr Gyan said the Regional and National Executives of the Party were working hard to organise the primaries.

He urged party supporters to co-operate with the constituency, regional and national executives to ensure successful primaries.
