NPP will move Ghana from promises to action – Bawumia

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration is committed to shifting the paradigm from promises to action as was in the case of its predecessor under the previous administration.

He noted that the current administration in its resolve to develop the country will move away from the systems where the vulnerable and those in rural Ghana were excluded in the development but rather chart a path that aims at focusing on their development needs.

“We are moving from the paradigm of plans and promises to action…..a paradigm of exclusion to inclusion and the implementation of policy initiatives that will jell towards the development of the country”, he disclosed at the 18th congregation of University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.

According to him, developing a country is about building the knowledge base of the citizenry underscoring the significance of education in this regard.

“Education is significant in this regard. Basic and secondary education is paramount; which is why the government has rolled out the free Senior High School policy”, he said.

The Vice President challenged the UDS to work harder by producing the needed human resource channeled towards addressing the development needs of the country

To this end, he congratulated the UDS on 25 years of its existence based on its peculiar training and problem-based learning approach which has equipped them for community service to bring the development needs of the citizens closer to them

“Use the approach in helping to address the development challenges of the country and use knowledge and skills channeled towards rural development of the country” he stressed.
