NPP will be victorious, come December elections-MacManu

Sunyani Feb 23, GNA – Mr. Peter Mac Manu, Western Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has said in Sunyani that the party would emerge victorious in the next elections.

There is no doubt that with our combined hard work, dedication and proper planning, the NPP will chalk a massive victory in the elections to continue with our determination to make life bearable for all Ghanaians, he said.

The Regional Chairman was speaking to Ghana News Agency at the end of a strategy seminar for selected regional executives of the party as part of preparations towards the December elections.

He noted that the NPP made an impressive climb from 38 per cent of votes in the 1996 Presidential election to 60.9 per cent in 2000. “Our party grabbed majority in parliament in 2000 and mind you, we did not achieve that on a silver platter but through hard work, dedication and proper planning,” Mr. Manu added.

The Regional Chairman emphasized that even in the face of intimidation, bullying and other negative tactics adopted by some parties during those elections, “we were able to achieve those feats”.

“Now that there is civility, elimination of unnecessary interference, good governance and the rule of law, it is a test for all political parties to assert their genuine popularity,” Mr. Manu said. He noted that the country was going through ‘Hi-tech’ politics that demanded a persuasive mission to give the people the right message and urged Ghanaians to practice politics based on issues. Those determined to adopt dirty tactics in the political game must be daydreaming, Mr. Manu cautioned.

Mr. Manu said the NPP was exhibiting great organizational acumen aimed at sharpening the skills of its members and executives towards the realization of its goal to get re-elected.

Asked about the NPP’s chances in the face of the region being the stronghold of the CPP, the Regional Chairman urged the CPP to put its house in order to edge out the NDC as the dominant opposition party in the country.
