NPP warns independent candidates in Adansi area

Obuasi, Sept 09, GNA – The Adansi Co-ordinating Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has warned all persons contesting the parliamentary elections as independent candidates in the five constituencies in the area to desist from using the name of the President and the NPP colours in their campaigns.

A statement signed by Mr Joseph K. Boampong, the Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive and chairman of the Co-ordinating Committee, said “the Party would like to warn all the independent candidates who are going round using the name of the President and NPP colours in their campaigns to stop that immediately to avoid embarrassment”.

“The Co-ordinating Committee would like to bring to the notice of all genuine party faithful that the Adansi constituencies of the NPP are not entertaining or sponsoring independent candidates in the 2004 elections.”

The release reminded the party’s supporters to only vote for President Kufuor and the parliamentary candidates elected at the various congresses.
