NPP Vetting C’tee to meet Wednesday to decide on Afoko

The Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 to decide on the fate of one of the four aspirants of the National Chairmanship position, Paul Afoko.

Vetting of Mr Afoko was suspended last week after a group petitioned the Committee over his candidature.

Speaking to TV3 on Midday Live on Monday, February 17, 2014, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, the Party’s Director of Elections and Secretary to the Committee, confirmed that the vetting of Mr Afoko was not concluded last week.

The situation has affected the schedule of the Committee as balloting – scheduled to have been done on Friday, February 14 – will be done at a date to be announced after Wednesday’s meeting, Mr Adjei-Mensah Korsah hinted.

Mr Korsah, who was speaking from Tamale, where the party’s national executive elections will be held, mentioned that all successful applicants can go to the headquarters of the party to pick “qualification letters”.

They can also start campaigning, he added.

The elections are scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
