NPP urges media to commit themselves to political objectivity

Tamale, Sept 10, GNA – Mr Kwadwo Afari, Press Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged the media to commit themselves to political objectivity to unite the country to ensure free and fair elections in December.

He appealed the media to be more concerned about educating the electorate on issues that would make them have informed opinion about the various political parties to enable them to make informed choices. Mr Afari, who was speaking in an interview with the GNA in Tamale, said this year’s elections were about trust and competence and not “war of words” on political opponents.

The Press Secretary was in Tamale to organize a strategic planning review workshop for the party executives to prepare them to canvass for more votes.

On the misunderstanding and agitation going on in the NPP primaries, he said such actions were expected in any democratic process. “We cannot stop these agitations but what matters most is the way we are able to handle and resolve issues when they emerge.”

Mr Lord Commey, the National Organizer of the NPP, said the party had targeted to win 17 seats out of the 28 seats in the Northern Region. He said Ghanaians know which government had developed the country and would vote according to their conscience.
