NPP Troubles: Asamoah-Boateng appeals for calm

Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, a presidential aspirant of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed for calm to allow the party’s elected national officers space to operate.

He said he found it troubling recent developments in the party and invited all to avoid anything that will not be helpful to the unity of the party.

This is contained in a statement issued by his campaign office, a copy of which was made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi.

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng reminded the party’s members and supporters to be decorous in their utterances to bring about the peace it requires to prosecute a winning electioneering campaign after the selection of its flag-bearer.

He said they should focus efforts on putting things right to send a strong message to the people that they were ready for political power.

“We should listen to the cries of the millions of our party faithful, supporters and sympathizers at the grassroots and discontinue the in-fighting on the airwaves and on the social media.”

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng said Ghanaians were looking up to the NPP to salvage the nation from the mess and harsh economic conditions created by the Mahama Administration.

“We will not be forgiven, if we should fail them this time around,” he added.

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng said whatever “differences that we have,” these must be resolved peacefully and without acrimony.

He expressed optimism that the party would come out of the present turmoil stronger, more united and ready to win the election in the 2016 general polls.
