NPP to set up radio station

The Greater Accra Regional Secretariat of the New Patriotic Party, NPP is to set up a new Radio Station in Accra to be known as Omanye FM to help explain government policies and programmes to the rural people.

The Secretariat has also acquired a 200-acre land near Dodowa in the Dangme West District to establish a mango-processing factory early 2007.

This is to provide job opportunities for the unemployed in the Shai-Osudoku Constituency.

The Regional Chairman of the NPP, Sammy Crabbe, announced this at Ada at the Party’s Constituency Delegates Congress at Luhuese near Big-Ada.

He said the Secretariat is expecting 300 vehicles by February 2007 to be distributed to all the constituencies in the region. Some of the vehicles he said will be allocated to Party members on work and pay basis.

The Regional Youth Organizer, Alhaji Yussif Ahmed was not happy about what he described as tribal politics being propagated by the opposition. He noted that world leaders recognize President Kufuor”s enviable record of good governance, rule of law and economic stability, adding that the mass unemployment situation existed before the NPP government came to power.

Alhaji Ahmed acknowledged the plight of the NPP followers in the constituency and asked them to take advantage of the Micro-Credit Fund, Venture-Capital Fund and the National Youth Employment Programme to better their lot.

The Ada Constituency Chairman of the Party Winfred Teye Agbloe noted that the party in collaboration with the District Assembly has secured about 20 out-board motors worth ¢260m, and distributed to party members on hire purchase.

A motorcycle valued at ¢8m was also acquired for use by the executive, adding that a one-year Life Insurance Policy worth ¢10m was presented to the paramount Chief of Ada.

Mr. Agbloe announced that the party intends to establish a corn mill at the Kasseh market, a block factory at Big Ada, a vegetable farm at Anyakpor as well as a fuel filling station also at Kasseh and asked for financial support from individuals and organisations to undertake the project.
