Mr. Samuel Cudjoe, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party has advised party supporters to be tolerant and respect the views of their political opponents to ensure the sustenance of democratic culture in the country.
He said arrogance and disrespect for the rights and ideas of people with different and divergent views by supporters could undermine the basic principles of the party and this could affect its chances of ruling the country for a long period.
Mr. Cudjoe was addressing an NPP constituency rally at Kuntanase in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District.
He said the government within two years had demonstrated its capabilities to transform the socio-economic well being of the people and the recent victories in six by-elections indicated the confidence the people had in the government.
Mr. Cudjoe advised supporters of the party to step up their education campaign to explain government policies to the people.
Mr. Adu-Gyamfi Poku, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe, appealed to the constituency executive to involve all members in decision-making in all issues affecting the party.
He said the influx of foreign investors to invest in the economy demonstrated the trust and confidence they had in the government and advised the party members to close their ranks and work hard to win the 2004 elections.
Mr. Bright Addai-Mununkum, the District Chief Executive, urged the supporters to always consult the leadership of the party on any issues that might agitate their minds.
