NPP supporters seize outgoing MCE’s vehicle

Persons believed to be supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Monday seized the official vehicle of the Chief Executive of the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, 3news.com has gathered.

According to reports, the official vehicle of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), James Baidoo, was seized and taken to the Axim Police Station for safekeeping.

The NPP supporters claim since December 9, when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were declared losers of the elections, the MCE has given the vehicle to a driver they consider unqualified.

They allege that the driver is also not an employee of the Assembly, thus not qualified to use a property of the Assembly.

In an interview with Connect FM’s William Peters, driver Richard Kojo said he was only sent by the MCE on Monday, when the NPP supporters confronted him, demanding keys to the vehicle. He said he has been driving the vehicle for the past two weeks now. But the Municipal Police Commander is said to have intervened, releasing the vehicle to the Assembly.
