NPP supporters defy downpour to listen to flagbearer

Winneba (C/R), Aug. 26, GNA – A large crowd of New Patriotic Party (NPP) activists and supporters in the Effutu constituency, on Monday defied a down pour accompanied by cold weather, to listen to their flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at rally at Winneba. The party faithful, clad in Tee shirts, caps and other adornment of the party colours, arrived at Winneba in the morning of Monday waited patiently until Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage arrived at the rally ground at about 1945 hours.

Addressing the crowd, Nana Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians not to make mistake and allow themselves to be deceived by people, who had nothing better to offer the nation.

He said government under President John Agyekum Kufuor, had laid a firm foundation for the country and there was, therefore, the need for a person, who shared similar vision, a God fearing person, and a dynamic man like him to take over from him (President Kufuor). He said with his rich experience and skills, he was the best person to be elected the next president of the country and urged the supporters to come out in their numbers to vote the party into power again on December 7, 2008.

Nana Akufo-Addo said his vision was to create more avenues for people especially the youth adding that, he would judicious used proceeds from the oil find towards the socio-economic development of the country.

The flagbearer said under his administration, both the poor and the rich family’s children would have equal access to free quality education from pre-school to the Senior High School level.

He urged party supporters to preach the achievements of the NPP government so as to encourage people to vote and keep the NPP in power. “You should not see your opponents as enemies, but rather see them as brothers and sisters in a political divide,” he said.

Mr Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Information and National Orientation, Mr Kennedy Agyepong, Member of Parliament for Assin North and Mr Alan Kyerematen, who took turns to address the rally, urged the supporters to continue to campaign for the party to win the election.
