NPP supporters besiege Kumasi markets, seize tolls

Some supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have besieged markets in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi to take over the collection of revenue.

According to the NPP supporters, some of the current revenue collectors are NDC members, hence, the need to drive them out and take over their duties since their party is now in power.

Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice, told Starr FM that some supporters of the NPP stormed different markets on Tuesday and chased out the revenue collectors.

The NPP supporters claim that their survey has revealed that the tolls being collected do not reflect in the books of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

According to Bediako, the NPP supporters visited different markets and stormed the Adehyeman Lorry Station to stop the revenue collectors from doing their job.

Bediako, however, added that the Police has failed to arrest the NPP supporters because the operation was well planned and conducted using motorbikes.

This comes after several reports of NPP supporters taking over public institutions and public toilets across the country after the swearing-in of President Akufo-Addo.
