Murtala Mohammed is questioning why Minority Members of Parliament who staged a walkout on Thursday did not boycott the ‘food and drinks’ that were later served at the end of the function.
The NDC Member of Parliament for Nanton says even though the NPP boycotted proceedings on that fateful day, they gracefully partook in the ‘eating and drinking”.
“They didn’t boycott the foods and the drinks. They participated fully in taking the kebabs and the drinks. They only boycotted the address”, he humorously asserted.
The MP was reacting to the Minority’s boycott of President Mahama’s State of the Nation address last Thursday on Citi FM.
Minutes before President Mahama entered Parliament to present his address on Thursday, the minority members walked out, to the surprise of many.
The leadership of the NPP is challenging the declaration of the results, which led to the swearing-in of John Mahama as President at the Supreme Court.
And attempt to participate in any activity having direct bearing on John Mahama’s presidency could adversely affect their case in court, the party has said.
Hon. Murtala insisted that if the Minority had taken a stand against the President, then they did not have any moral right in coming back to enjoy the food that was served afterwards.
