NPP set for spectacular electoral victory in 2012

Bekwai (Ash.), April 23, GNA – The Asante-Bekwai Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Patrick Adu Gyamfi, has expressed delight at the return of calm to the party in the area after bitter internal wrangling, and predicted strong showing in the 2012 polls.

He said having successfully mended cracks and healed wounds that threatened to fuel voter apathy, there should be no doubt that the party was set for spectacular electoral victory.

Mr Adu-Gyamfi told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the party had fixed May 2, for what he termed “a unity political rally” at Bekwai to send a powerful message about the sense of renewal and resolve to recapture political power.

The party could not afford to waste time and energy on petty squabbles and other distractions, as it prepared for the battle to unseat the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Adu-Gyamfi said it was for this reason that the Constituency Executive set for itself the goal of ensuring a united front and restore to the party, peace and tranquillity. “Thank God, we have achieved this, we are now a united family,” he said. He said it was important every member of the party accepted the full scale of their responsibility to work hard, and sacrifice to bring the NPP back to power.

He said he was confident that if they all played their part well there was no way the NPP would not win the 2012 general elections. The Bekwai Constituency of the NPP was thrown into confusion following the narrow margin defeat of Mr Joe Osei-Wusu by Mr Ignatius Kofi Poku Adusei, a former Deputy Minister at the party’s parliamentary primaries in 2008. Mr Osei-Wusu contested the poll as an independent candidate and won the seat
