NPP Reg. Chairman cautions constituency chairmen about sitting MPs

Koforidua, Feb. 26, GNA- The Eastern Regional Chairman of the New patriotic Party (NPP,) Nana Adi Ankamah has warned that NPP constituency chairmen in the region who are found to have teamed up with people to remove the sitting NPP MP’s would be dealt with according to the party’s constitution.

He therefore asked party members and sympathizers in the region, who had any information to that effect should inform the party’s secretariat.

Nana Adi Ankamah who was speaking in an interview with the GNA after meeting with party executives at Koforidua, noted that even though there are speculation around that it was happening no chairman had been found to be doing that and said “whoever wants to become the next MP should wait until nominations were opened in April in constituency where the Party has a sitting MP”.

He said, of late, people had been peddling rumours of all sorts about the NPP and described it as blackmail.

He therefore called on the people “who go to the various press houses to make allegations to have the same courage to approach the party leaders for explanation.”

He observed that the NDC was using propaganda to destabilize the NPP with intention of winning the coming elections and stated that the NDC was not a party that could defeat the NPP in any way, since Ghanaians are going for the NPP due to its good works.

On the voters registration exercise, he said the NPP had so far trained 1,000 people to facilitate the smooth running of the exercise and urged all Ghanaians who were eligible to vote to register as early since the exercise would last for only two weeks.

He advised the members to stop the infighting and backbiting and exhibit the high standard of democracy that prevails in the party. 26 Feb 2004
