NPP race: ‘Apraku has not endorsed Akufo-Addo’

The camp of Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku has denied media reports that the former Trade Minister has endorsed the candidature of two-time presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, ahead of the NPP’s national delegates’ conference scheduled for October 18 to elect a flagbearer for the 2016 elections.

Special aide to Dr Apraku, Ahmed Osman Ali told Okay FM Apraku’s congratulatory message to the former foreign affairs Minister, who won last Sunday’s special delegates’ elections has been misconstrued.

“I am shocked at this kind of headlines people are giving to the statement we released. He has not endorsed anybody. He is not that kind of person. He only wished Nana Addo well because he won the super delegates’ congress. The media reports are not fair,” he stated.

Dr Apraku was among the two people who were crashed in the Super delegates’ elections, which reduced the number of flagbearer aspirants of the party from seven to five.

Nana Akufo-Addo won the day with over 80% of the votes followed by the former Ghana ambassador to the US, Alan Kyeremanten, who managed only 7.97 of the votes.

The party will elect a flagbearer on October 18.
