NPP Race: 65 Minority MPs Declare Support For Bawumia

Sixty-five (65) Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party Minority side have publicly declared their support for former Vice President and flagbearer hopeful Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The MPs, representing various constituencies, expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and his commitment to Ghana’s development.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, October 23, the Minority MPs emphasised that their endorsement is driven by the need for continued progress and national unity.

Member of Parliament for Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong told  journalists that their support for the  former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was grounded not in sentiment, but in deep conviction.

“We have seen his work, his discipline, his resilience and his readiness to serve,” he said, describing Dr. Bawumia as embodying the next chapter of the New Patriotic Party’s vision—a future built on competence, innovation, unity, and hope.

Ampratwum-Sarpong went further to affirm Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities, stating, “He is not just the candidate who can unite our party, he is the leader who can win the confidence of the Ghanaian people and secure victory for the NPP in 2028 and beyond.”

He portrayed the former Vice President as a symbol of renewal who breaks barriers and inspires belief that Ghana’s best days are yet to come.

Addressing NPP delegates nationwide, the MP urged them to seize the moment to make history again.

He called on the party to reward loyalty, humility, and hard work with trust, and to renew the NPP tradition by choosing a leader who represents both continuity and innovation.

“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is our choice,” he declared, highlighting that the Vice President has “walked the path, carried the burden and delivered results.”

This declaration is expected to bolster Dr. Bawumia’s campaign and strengthen his position as a leading candidate in the forthcoming elections.
