NPP Primaries would make the party stronger -Owusu-Ankomah

Gomoa Ekwamkrom (C/R), Oct 16, GNA- Papa Owusu -Ankomah, one of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential hopefuls, has stated that, the election of a flag bearer, would make the party stronger and more attractive to Ghanaians.

He said the current campaign for the forthcoming election had helped to mobilize all the aspirants to interact with the polling station executives to enable them know the problems facing the party. Papa Owusu-Ankomah said this when he addressed a Delegates’ Conference organized by the Gomoa East Constituency branch of the NPP at Gomoa Ekwamkrom, near Agona Swedru at the weekend.

He said the perception of most people to the number of the aspirants was that it would destroy the party, but on the contrary it would rather unite the party and make it stronger. Papa Owusu-Ankomah urged the delegates to the December 22 congress to vote for a marketable, dynamic and visionary candidate to lead the party to victory in the 2008 elections.

He said he would build a stronger, and a more cohesive party to empower all its members, irrespective of their social class, age and gender to take advantage of all opportunities available to them. The Presidential Aspirant said these would include skill training and development, entrepreneurship training, employment placement, political education and governance.

‘I would build a financially sound party at the Constituency, Regional and National levels to ensure the execution of its political agenda better.

Papa Owusu-Ankomah promised to enhance the relationship between the party and the government through active leadership. “I am determined to pursue an uncompromising policy of decentralisation which would lead to national development. Mr Augustus Mensah, Gomoa East Constituency Chairman of the Party called on the aspirants to conduct a clean campaign, devoid of insults, acrimony and hatred to enable the NPP to win the 2008 elections. The constituency chairman urged the Presidential hopefuls to respect the decision of the delegates and rally behind whoever emerges
