NPP petitioners misled the Supreme Court Judges

A member of Government’s Communication machinery has warned the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the stance taken to incite their supporters that something untoward went on during the ruling of the 2012 election petition is dangerous to the country’s democracy.

Gabby Assumeng sought to remind the opposition party that human errors in institutions are common as similar errors were made when the petitioners filed their documents to the Supreme Court to consider their supposed claims.

“…the NPP should desist from their violent utterances of using any means in the 2016 election because it is a direct destructive mechanism to their own political party…it is also making their party (NPP) unpopular to Ghanaians,” he said.

The NDC activist further asserts that a careful analysis of the Supreme Court’s ruling on over-voting and voting without biometric verification reveals the petitioners in their claims, misinformed some of the Justices of the Supreme Court into believing their pleadings.

According to Gabby Assumeng, the petitioners capitalized on the errors which occurred when the EC presiding officers out of pressure were filling the pink sheet to make their claims in court.

The NDC communicator recounted on Okay Fm that the supposed over-voting and voting without biometric verification claim never occurred in the 2012 election because areas where over-voting was detected was cancelled as no NPP polling agent throughout the country reported any case relating to over-voting during the counting of the ballot papers.

“….the petitioners misled the judges in the claims of over-voting and voting without biometric verification because the judges are not deeply involved with the electoral processes. The petitioners took advantage of it to confuse the judges with the wrong entries done by the presiding officers”, he slammed.
