Bolgatanga, June 3, GNA – Mrs Agnes Asangalisa Chigabatia, Upper East Regional Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to the Regional executive members, to be open minded towards the presidential aspirants of the party.
She made the appeal during a meeting with the Regional and Constituency executives in Bolgatanga. Mrs Chigabatia asked the executives not to declare openly, which flagbearer of the party they support, saying such acts would not serve the interest and growth of the party and affect its electoral fortune in 2012. She urged them to support any of the aspirants who emerged as a presidential candidate of the NPP by working hard to win more souls for the party. “Our ultimate goal and concern is to capture power. in the next election,” she said.
Mrs Chigabatia said although there was bound to be disagreement within the party such acts should not be allowed to destroy it. She entreated the party executives to use the party structures to address their grievances instead of resorting to negative things that would affect internal cohesion. Mrs. Chigabatia asked the executive members to support capable people in their constituencies who are interested in contesting for the forthcoming District Assembly election scheduled to take place during the last quarter of the year. 3 June 10
