Accra, Dec. 22, GNA – The Parliamentary caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday lauded the Party for its successful conference in Accra last weekend and reminded the new Executives not to be oblivious of the task ahead of them.
In a statement signed by Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, the Majority Leader, the caucus said: “We believe they are not oblivious of the high expectation of our supporters and the generality of well-meaning Ghanaians that they will lead the NPP to victory in 2008 to enable Ghanaians to enjoy development in freedom.”
The MPs commended those who contested elections saying they believed these people were motivated by the desire to make the Party better than they found it.
“It is gratifying to note that the hectic and vigorous campaign helped to rekindle the interest of the rank and file of members in the affairs of the Party.”
The MPs said there was neither victor nor vanquished, adding the only victors were the NPP and Ghana.
“We have once again demonstrated to the whole country that when it comes to the practice of democracy we are the torchbearers. Despite the pre-conference tension hyped by the media, no noses were smashed and no limbs suffered bruises. This is a worthy example for others to follow.”
The MPs expressed their condolences to the family of Gordon Sulemani Najuah, 38, an activist of the New Patriotic Party in the Wa Central Constituency who died in a motor accident on the Techiman-Wenchi road last Sunday.
Najuah and his colleagues were returning to Wa from Accra after attending the NPP national delegates conference, when the bus on which they were travelling collided with a pick-up and a taxi. They also wished those who were injured speedy recovery.
