NPP Parliamentary candidate for Jomoro Constituency arrested

The NPP parliamentary candidate for the Jomoro Constituency Paul Essien together with his executives were on Monday April 18, 2016 arrested for attempting to spray cocoa farms in the Jomoro District.

According to the head of Ghana Cocoaboard’s Taskforce in the Jomoro District Mr Mathias Iddrisu Mumuni, the Taskforce were tipped off a week earlier that Mr Paul Essien together with his executives were going to spray all cocoa farms in the district because the Government had failed to do so.

Mr Mumuni told GhanaPoliticsOnline.Com that the NPP parliamentary candidate failed to consult the Cocoaboard before the exercise and also the chemicals he distributed to the farmers were illegal

“Paul Essien bought illegal chemical called Lambert Super 2.5ec”,Mr Mumuni emphasized.

According to Mr Mumuni, the chemical Lambert Super 2.5ec is used to spray vegetables such as tomatoes and pepper not cocoa.

He cautioned the general public to report any individual who attempts undertake any cocoa spraying exercise.
