NPP Nasara Club salutes newly elected Ashanti Chief Imam

Kumasi, July 14, GNA – The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nasara Club has sent a congratulatory message to Sheikh Abdul Mumuni Haruna, on his election as the new Ashanti Regional Chief Imam.

The message said the club found it heartwarming, the peace and maturity that characterized the process of his nomination and approval by the Zongo Chief and Council of Ulamau.

The Club in a statement signed by its Regional Coordinator, Alhaji Musah Zingi, gave high marks to the Committee that came up with the choice of Sheikh Haruna and his deputy Alhaji Zakaria Abdul Rahman, for a good job done.

It asked all Muslims to take pride in what it said was a “noble and historic feat.”

The new Regional Chief Imam succeeds Sheikh Imrana Musah, who died on July 2, at the age of 67.

High profile politicians including Vice President John Mahama, former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, NPP’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, Minority Leader, Mr Isaac Osei, Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Dr Osei Owusu Afriyie Akoto, MP for Kwadaso, Dr Mathew Poku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia, Mr Ben Abdallah Banda, MP for Offinso South, and former government officials mourned the late Islamic Cleric.
