NPP must work for majority seats in parliament – Addison

Mr Philip Addison, an Accra Legal Practitioner, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to devise innovative strategies and approaches to winning majority seats in Parliament in the 2016 Parliamentary polls.

This, he said, was because should Nana Addo win the presidential election, he would need majority votes in Parliament to be able to push through his programmes and policies to progress the nation into sustainable prosperity.

Mr Addison, who represented the NPP flagbearer in the 2012 Election Petition at the Supreme Court, was speaking to the Ghana News Agency, in Accra.

The lawyer has declared his intention to contest the Korle Klottey Constituency seat, in Accra, in his party’s parliamentary primary.

On criticisms that he was not an active party member, Mr Addison said he disagreed with that perception, explaining that, “I have been an active member of the Young Executive Forum of the Party from the beginning and have contributed both in monetary and ideas for the running of the party”.

He urged members of the Constituency to give him the nod in the contest to recapture the seat from the National Democratic Party.

The Chairman of the Constituency, Nii Noi Nortey, has also declared his intention to contest the seat.

The Parliamentary Primary is scheduled for May 24.
