NPP must not resort to propaganda; provide alternatives

A Management Consultant, Nana Boateng, has charged the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to ridicule the content of the State of the Nation’s address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama, but come up with alternatives to address the challenges confronting the nation.

According to him, it would be wrong to reduce the discussions to propaganda, as some members of the NPP have sought to do; but a critical analysis of the issues raised and proffering better ways of helping to solve the country’s numerous problems would do the NPP and Ghanaians a lot of good.

Mr. Boateng made this appeal during an interview on NEAT 100.9, after President John Dramani Mahama’s address in the House on Tuesday.

Though President Mahama touched on the economy, agriculture and many other facets of Ghanaian life, Freddy Blay, a former 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament in an interview with GTV also indicated that he felt ‘disappointed’ in the President’s address because it sounded like a repackaged product.

Others have expressed similar sentiments, saying their disappointment with the address stems from the fact that the budget for the year appears to fall short of tackling the challenges bedeviling the country, so there was the need for the president to come up with new plans.

But Nana Boateng opined that, the plans stated in the State of the Nation’s address sounds “good” and it is a challenge to the NPP to come up with other alternatives, in order to convince Ghanaians on their ability to run the country better.
