NPP MP to join constituents in demonstration

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwi Simon Osei- Mensah has stated that he will partake in a demonstration by his constituents against President John Dramani Mahama for reneging on his campaign promises if invited.

According to the assembly members in the area, their road network is in a deplorable state, making it difficult for residents to go about their daily activities.

They have threatened to embark on a demonstration to compel government address the alarming situation.

Speaking on Ultimate breakfast show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he entreated his constituents to seek permission from the appropriate quarters before embarking on the demonstration.

‘All the roads that were given on contract during my first and second term of former president J.A Kuffour’s regime, when National Democratic Congress (NDC) came into power, it was only two that they continued, the rest they abandoned them. They have to go on demonstration; I don’t have any problem.

Most of the roads are bad, even the main road from Kumasi – Lake Bosomtwe, between Jirapatri and Jachie, there is serious potholes. Always they complain that they don’t have funds.

We have so many roads that have been abandoned when, we lost power, and they abandoned the Aputiogya and Kuntenase, Atafram roads. They only one they completed was a bridge. They should go on demonstration and if they invite me and am free I will join them,’ he explained.

He alleged that government constructs gutters without fillings and that the gutters get broken after heavy down pour.

He further blamed chiefs in the community for selling off lands meant for developing tourist sites.

‘We have been urging the chiefs not to sell the lands too closed to the lake but the land does not belong to me so you can’t do anything to them, when they sell you can only advice,’ he said.
