NPP missing from their capitalist path – Asiedu Nketia

The Opposition New Patriotic Party is disillusioned and missing from their Capitalist orientation, General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said.

According to him, the NPP appears to be diverting from their original ideals of a private sector-led state.

Speaking at the NDC manifesto launch in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region, General Mosquito, as he is popularly known said the NPP cannot win the fight of providing social amenities for the larger populace against the NDC.

“They are missing in their path. They are a capitalist party that believes in creating the environment for the rich to thrive and for the poor to fend for themselves even if They cannot afford to do so by themselves.

“So why are they now coming to lay claim to the social policies that are the preserve of a socialist party like the NDC. We have an ideology that says that even though the rich must still make their money, the state must take care and protect the interest and welfare of the needy and weak in society. That is why we have no difficulty in continuing the school feeding, leap and the various social protection programs,” Nketia said.

President John Mahama who is already at the Sunyani Coronation park is expected give details of the NDC manifesto for the 2016 elections at the event.

Mahama has already given highlights of the much-talked about policy document, revealing that his second term is likely to give Ghana five extra administrative regions, e-text books to students, over 20 polyclinics, two more psychiatric hospitals, tri-cycles for persons with disability among others.

He said the manifesto aims at putting people first, accountable governance and expanding infrastructure for job creation.
