NPP members defect to NDC

About 200 people, who claim to be members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Kuntanase and Odoben in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency have defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Prominent among them are Adu Kwakye an opinion leader at Kuntanase and Mr. Robert Ocran, assembly member for Odoben. At separate meetings with the defectors at Kuntanase and Odoben, Mr. Ebenezer Kobena Fosu, Member of Parliament for the area commended them for their foresight.

Mr. Fosu was happy that politics of lies and misinformation peddled by some opposition parties, which made a lot of people to take wrong decisions have been uncovered, hence the defections. “The truth shall always triumph”, he said. Mr. John Kweku Addae, District Chief Executive recounted a number of development projects the area has benefited from under PNDC/NDC administration and urged the people to rally behind the government to enable them to enjoy more of such projects.

Mr. Robert Hayford, the Constituency Chairman of NDC advised members of the party to involve the defectors in their electioneering campaign programmes. In a related development, members of the party met at Breman Asikuma to plan strategies for the electioneering campaign for the 2000 elections.
