NPP leading member appeals to Ghanaians to reject tribal politics

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. George Ayisi-Boateng, has called on his colleague politicians not to excite ethnic sentiments and passions in their desperate attempt to win power.

He cautioned that the deliberate resort to tribal politics could have serious ramifications and hurt the unity and cohesion of the nation and added that everything should be done to avoid any temptation to travel that dangerous path.

Mr. Ayisi-Boateng said the expectation was that those looking for the mandate to govern would tell the people what they would be doing differently to make things better for them but not to tear them apart.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Council of Elders and Patrons of the Ashanti Region NPP Nasara Club in Kumasi.

This comes as the party stepped up its campaign to win over more voters ahead of the December 7 polls.

Mr. Fredrick Fredua Anto, the Regional Chairman of the party, appealed to members of the Club to go from house-to-house to convince the electorate to vote the party back to power and must work hard to broaden the NPP’s appeal to people in the Zongo communities.

The NPP, he said, would keep faith with the people by delivering on its election promises.

Alhaji Sulemana Abubakr, National Coordinator of the Club, reminded members to be vigilant to prevent electoral fraud and cheating and they should work hard to expose “the lies, deception and propaganda” of their political opponents.
