Tamale, March 20, GNA – Mr Fuseini Abdulai Inusah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate in the Tamale Central by-election has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) stand of not contesting the Tamale Central by-election for fear of losing a third time.
“The NPP knows that Tamale Central is a ‘No Go’ area for them that is why they refused to contest and they are now using violence as an excuse,” Mr Inusah said when he launched his campaign for the by-elections in Tamale on Sunday.
The launch was also for Mr Inusah to introduce himself to the electorate and ask for support to help him retain the seat for NDC. He claimed that it was because some committed members of the NPP in Tamale resisted the imposition of Prof. Wayo Seini on them as a candidate that made them to withdraw from the race and to support him as an independent candidate.
He said the woes of the NPP have begun and that power would elude them in 2008 to “show them that they are the worse government that failed to fulfil the aspiration of the people”.
Mr Inusah said the withdrawal of NPP from the race was an indication that “The kitchen is hot for them” and that they should be ready to leave the Castle in 2009, because it was also getting hotter. He appealed to the electorate to show love to the NDC and come out in their numbers to vote to retain the seat.
Alhaji Sumani Zakari, Northern Regional chairman of the NDC said the party had won the elections before even the race started and that what they were now waiting for, was the gap.
He said Prof. Wayo Seini, who resigned from the NDC had nothing to offer the people but “deceit and disappointment” and called on the electorate not to vote for him to teach him that, he could not cheat on their intelligence.
He said Prof. Seini won the seat in 2004 because he stood on NDC ticket and that the reasons for which he resigned from the NPP to NDC were still not solved and wondered how he could solve those problems as an independent MP.
