NPP kicks against police in IPAC meetings

The New Patriotic Party has kicked against the proposed inclusion of security personnel on the regular Inter-Party Advisory Committee meetings with the Electoral commission.

Analysts say the permanent inclusion of the security on the IPA Committee would help curb violence at potential flash points before, during and after elections.

But National Chairman of the NPP Jake Obitsebi Lamptey tells Asempa News that the IPAC meetings are strictly for political parties.

Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey stresses that the security, the police in particular, also have their own meetings with the EC on security matters.

Meanwhile, the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) say they fully support the proposal to involve the security in the IPAC meetings as sometimes, some of the issues discussed on security demand immediate feedback.

National Youth Organizer of the CPP James Kwabena Bomfeh and Deputy General Secretary of the PNC Bernard Mornah say it would be more prudent if the security are part of the IPAC meetings to help build a better protection for the electorate in an election year.
