NPP is struggling to remain consistent – Tarzan

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Stalwart Dr. Charles Wereko-Brobbey has described as absurd, the demand by some Minority MPs to ask Ministers questions on the floor of Parliament despite boycotting the vetting of those ministers.

Dr. Wereko-Brobby told XYZ Breakfast on Tuesday February 26, that the turn of events demonstrated what he described as the inconsistency of the Minority’s decision to boycott the vetting of the ministers when they were nominated by President Mahama.

The party’s 2012 flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo is currently in court with two others challenging the 2012 election results as well as the legitimacy of the president.

The Minority therefore resolved to boycott activities and decisions connected to the president so as not to be seen as according him legitimacy thus the boycott of the vetting of his ministerial nominees.

Despite their boycott, some Minority Members of Parliament (MPs) attempted asking ministers questions on the floor of Parliament last week.

Their attempt sparked a debate about their moral right to do so.

The National Organiser of the ruling NDC Yaw Boateng Gyan has even threatened sanctions against ministers who allow themselves to be questioned by the Minority MPs.

Dr Wereko-Brobby who is against the NPP’s boycotts and court petition told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu that the party is struggling to remain consistent.

“Instead of actually saying that look, let us put a stop to this, they are getting more and more into the theatre of the absurd by now saying that we are going to question those whose legitimacy we don’t recognize and as time goes on, if they don’t jettison this, the lack of consistency, and the lack of logic and the irrationality and the nonsensicality of it all will become more manifest”.
