NPP is bankrupt of ideas – Mumuni

Tamale, Nov. 28, GNA – Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni, the running mate of Prof. Evans Atta Mills, Presidential candidate of the NDC on Sunday said the NPP was bankrupt of ideas and would continue to create the mess if Ghanaians renew their mandate to rule the country.

“The NPP government is bankrupt of ideas and that has contributed in their failure to fulfil the aspirations of Ghanaians,” he said and called on the electorate to vote them out, come December 7. Alhaji Mumuni said this when he addressed an NDC northern regional rally at the Tamale police park as part of the party’s campaign to solicit votes to win the December elections.

Alhaji Mumuni said since the NPP has no ideas; it has “No sense of focus to rule the nation and they are stealing all NDC ideas without crediting the party”.

He said projects such as rural electrification that the President was going round commissioning were part of programmes initiated by the NDC to connect all rural communities in the country to the national grid. He said the NDC had connected more than 4,000 communities across the country to the national electricity grid with about 100 communities in Upper West alone being connected.

He expressed the hope that the NDC was coming back to power in 2005 to continue with the good works that the NPP had abandoned, adding that education was one priority area that an NDC government would focus. Alhaji Mumuni said the slogan by the NDC that Education For All would never be a mirage and that the NPP was not sympathetic to the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian therefore, making things very difficult for people to survive.

He said school fees were now so high that it was difficult for tertiary students to pay fees, particularly those at the law school saying, “The fees for law the school had been increased from 5 million cedis to 12 million cedis, which is compelling brilliant students stay at home.” He appealed to Ghanaians staying abroad to come home and help vote the NPP out of power.

He thanked Professor Mills for nominating him as his running mate and appealed to all the electorate in the region to vote massively for the NDC in December for a clean victory.
