NPP Ireland branch mourns former Vice President Aliu

The Ireland branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday joined Ghanaians to mourn the death of former Vice President Aliu Mahama who passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Friday, November 16.

“It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that we learn the sudden death of the former Vice President of Ghana. This is a national tragedy and without doubt, Ghanaians in general and NPP in particular have lost a great asset.

“Unknown to many, His Excellency was very instrumental in our clamour for a Branch Status in Republic of Ireland; and when the Executives of NPP Ireland had the privileged opportunity of meeting him last year in Ireland, our initial impression of him was one who exuded humility, warmth, gentleness, gentility and Godliness.

In statement issued to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, the branch said: “As we mourn our special thoughts and prayers extend to his wife Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama, the children and the entire bereaved family. May the almighty Allah receive Him unto his bosom.”
