NPP infighting: There will be peace after Conference – Alan K

New Patriotic Party flagbearer-aspirant, Alan Kyerematen, has dismissed fears of a possible split of the party after the October delegates’ conference for the election of a presidential candidate.

Supporters of the two leading aspirants – Alan Kyerematen and two-time presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo – have traded vile allegations against each other ahead of the conference, heightening fears of a break-up of the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition.

But the former trades minister told Oman FM, Thursday, the tensions in the party will cease after a flagbearer is elected on October 18.

“This tension ahead of an internal election is normal in our party, our supporters must be rest assured that there will be peace after the congress. Our party will not split,” he assured.

He added: “I urge our followers to be cautious about what they say to each other. As a politician, I don’t insult so I will not encourage my supporters to insult my opponent.”
