The New Patriotic Party (NPP) prior to the 2016 polls trained a number of mercenaries to kill supporters of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti Region, a former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area has alleged.
According to Mr. Fusieni Donkor, known faces of NPP Constituency Executives in the area were caught red-handed facilitating the training of a number of mercenaries to cause mayhem during the polls.
The then head of the District Security Committee (DISC) claims they were receiving the training in the outskirts of the capital Drobonso at the blindside of the security agencies in the region.
“They were receiving training on how to kill people if NPP was not declared winner in that polls”, the former security head disclosed on sister station Nhyira FM in Kumasi.
“They were training them on weapons handling”, the NDC Communicator told “Kroyemunsem” morning show hosted by Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin.
Mr. Fusieni Donkor, however, stated that he refused to order their arrest for possible prosecution because of the political tension in the country at the time.
According to aspiring Ashanti Regional Communication Officer of NDC, these mercenaries are the ones who have turned against government for promises made to them and now attacking appointees and state institutions.
