NPP holds regional rally in Tamale

Tamale, Dec. 5, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Saturday held its regional rally in Tamale with a call on Ghanaians to turn out on next Tuesday and vote massively for the Party to continue with its development programmes.

The rally, which was held at the Police Park, was well attended by supporters of the party wearing party Tee shirts and regalia and singing songs of victory.

Addressing the teeming supporters, the Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was using the Dagbon Chieftaincy crisis to score political points in the area.

He described the situation as unfortunate and advised traditional rulers not to allow “intruders or strangers” to mingle themselves with the Dagbon chieftaincy affairs.

Alhaji Mahama warned that anybody with the intention to disrupt next Tuesday’s elections should stop it or they would be dealt with according to the laws of the land when caught.

He said the NPP had worked diligently in carrying out its development programmes and urged Ghanaians to re-elect the Party to enable it to continue with its good work,

Mr Ben Salifu, Minister of State in the Senior Minister’s Office, told the supporters that adequate security measures had been put in place to protect the electorate to cast their votes and cautioned those who would want to disorganise the election to rethink.

Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu, Parliamentary candidate for Yendi, said President John Agyekum Kufuor had brought dignity into the presidency and appealed to Ghanaians not to allow “this golden opportunity to pass”.

Dr Abdel Majeed Haroun, Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale North, said the NDC was “out of coverage area” and called on the electorate to come out and vote massively for the NPP for more development projects. Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, NPP Parliamentary candidate for Tamale South, appealed to the electorate not to give the opportunity to the NDC to come near the presidency.

The Vice President later introduced the NPP Parliamentary Candidates in the Northern Region to the electorate.
