Ho, Aug. 07, GNA – All founding fathers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Ho Central Constituency have been disfranchised in the elections to pick a presidential candidate for the Party.
This is because their names were not validated to vote in the Constituency.
As a result only Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu, a founding member, who doubles as the Volta Regional Chairman, was allowed to vote.
All the other eight founding members were turned away.
Mr Emmanuel Danso Abeam, Ho Municipal Electoral Officer, who was in charge at the polling station, told the GNA that, election materials were given according to the number of names validated to vote at the Constituency, so he could not allow the eight to vote.
His decision created some chaos momentarily as some founding fathers were not ready to leave the polling station without voting.
However, the intervention of Mr Kenwuud and other Party executives calmed the situation.
Two hours into the exercise, some delegates also threatened to boycott the voting because their transportation allowance of five Ghana cedis was to low.
They claimed that some executives had pocketed moneys meant for them.
It took Mr Ohene Frimpong, Ho Constituency Chairman of the Party about 45 minutes to explain to them that, the five Ghana cedis each was from only Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, one of the aspirants to all delegates.
His explanation was able to calm tempers, preventing disorderliness.
