The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has blown the cover of some Assembly members who intend demanding money from the President’s nominees for the position of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
Before they put their evil plans into action, NPP Deputy Communications Officer for Bekwai Constituency, Peter Kwame Asare, has alleged Assembly members in the area intend to take monies before they will confirm the President’s nominee for the post.
The Communications is alleging that some members of the Assembly have come to conclusion to take an amount of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis each from whoever is appointed to the position.
He stated to mynewsgh.com the party is aware of clandestine meetings chaired by one Mr. Quaysen, Assemblyman for Pramaso/Nyameduase electoral area and other NPP constituency executives to block nominee if he fails to offer them bribe.
The Communications officer promised to name and shame corrupt faces behind this criminal act in the party.
Meanwhile, Quayson has since denied the claim saying the constituency communication officer is only trying to cast a slur on his image.
In a related development, assembly members in the Kumasi Metropolis are expected to confirm or reject Mr. Eric Osei Assibey as Mayor of Kumasi Metropolis Assembly (KMA) today Friday March 17, 2017.
