NPP Executives urged to stay neutral

Mrs Cynthia Morrison, Parliamentary Aspirant of the Agona West branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged constituency executives to stay neutral during the up-coming primaries, to ensure peace and unity.

She said it would not be in the best interest of the party if constituency executives showed open support for any aspirant during and after the parliamentary primaries slated for June 13.

Mrs Morrison made the call when she presented office furniture to ward executives of the four new sub-offices at Agona Nyakrom.

The sub-offices are Agona Nkum and Nyakrom, Lower and Upper Bobikuma.

The presentation coincided with the inauguration of the offices within the constituency.

Mrs Morrison also donated 20 bags of cement to the chiefs and people of Agona Abodom to construct culverts in the town.

She said the NPP parliamentary primaries “should not be seen as a do-and-die affair, but must be a true democratic processe to elect candidates to lead the party to contest the 2016 elections.

According to Mrs Morrison, it was the responsibility of the constituency executives to create levelled playing fields for all aspirants, rather than support some candidates.

She said the open declaration by some constituency executives for particular aspirants would do the party more harm than good.

She appealed to the delegates to give her the nod since she was the only woman contesting the primaries in Agona West with Mr Mathias Fred Adjei.

Mrs Morrison said already she had started helping the people in Agona West in the areas of education, health, sanitation and economics.

Mr Gibrine Tanko Toye, Agona West Constituency Vice Chairman of the NPP, bemoaned the conduct of some constituency executives during campaigns of Parliamentary Primaries.

He warned that when these behaviours continued, they could easily undermine the party’s strength at the grassroots.

He said NPP needed a united front to defeat the National Democratic Congress in the 2016 general elections.

The Vice Chairman gave the assurance that the NPP was the only hope for Ghanaians.
