NPP election: Some members arrested with fake accreditation cards

Some members of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been arrested by the Police for faking accreditation cards at the party’s ongoing annual delegates’ conference in the Northern regional capital Tamale.

The police are investigating the source and motive behind the fake accreditation cards.

The accreditation process for the event is being gone through carefully by the election committee resulting in a delay of the entire event.

Two-time flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has arrived at the conference grounds.

Many other party leaders and founder-members are also on the conference grounds at the Tamale Sports stadium.

Close to 6,000 delegates are taking part in the conference to elect about 16 national executives out of about 44 contestants.

A delegation of the governing NDC, led by General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, is at the conference to wish the NPP well. Other opposition parties are also represented at the conference for goodwill.
