NPP deny accusations against Owusu-Agyei

Winneba (C/R), July 12, GNA – Executives of the Effutu Constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have condemned allegations in media reports which sought to discredit the performance of the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Samuel Kofi Owusu-Agyei, who is also a Deputy Minister of Health.

At an emergency executive meeting at Winneba on Wednesday, the officers described the accusations levelled against the MP as blatant. Speaking to the press later, the Constituency Chairman, Mr Kofi Taylor, said it was not correct that Mr Owusu-Agyei is an absentee MP, stressing that the Deputy Minister of Health, was the most hard working MP that the Effutu Constituency has ever had since the country obtained independence over 50 years ago.

Mr Taylor confirmed the numerous development projects as well as the material and financial supports Mr Owusu-Agyei had extended to communities and individuals, especially brilliant and needy children pursuing various educational programmes in secondary, nursing and tertiary institutions.

The projects include, electricity, roads, rehabilitation of school buildings, provision of dual desks to needy schools, provision of hospital equipment to replace the old and unserviceable machines at the Winneba Government Hospital.

Mr. Taylor said the MP has more useful development plans in the pipeline to develop communities in his constituency, as well as making the Winneba township a befitting capital for the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District and called on the constituents to disabuse their minds of the accusations levelled against the MP.

He further called on the constituents to renew and maintain their commitment, trust and confidence in the MP for better things to come.
